Reflection – 2016

Hey lovelies,
How is your week going ? Mine is going really well. I have maintained a positive outlook all through. I was reading a rhapsody of realities article about living a daily life of praise and how it is important to be grateful everyday. I have made a conscious effort this week to be thankful and excited against all odds.

Back to today’s post. Happy new year!! I hope the year is turning out to be all that you desire and more. In any event, to truly have an amazing year, I think it is important to look back into the past year and REFLECT. So for example, think about the goals you set out to achieve in 2016, tick off the ones you achieved and focus on the ones you didn’t quite achieve. Those new year resolutions that didn’t make it to the end of the year. I know you know what I am referring to. At this point, it is so important to think and understand why you didn’t achieve those goals. It is all about being honest with yourself. Why didn’t I achieve that? I have definitely asked myself that question over and over again. If I am being honest with myself, I know the answer to that question lol. Sometimes it is hard to be truthful especially when it is as a result of what you didn’t do. For example, I know I didn’t fully achieve my fitness goals last year which was due to no other person’s fault but mine. Now that I have accepted responsibility for my shortcomings, it is time to take action to do better this year.

I think it is important to look back to recognise what you have achieved and what you haven’t. I believe it puts things in perspective. What I would say is don’t stay there and beat yourself up for not achieving those goals. Don’t dwell on your past! Mistakes and all. Look back only to reflect and then move forward with knowledge on things you need to improve on. “Without reflection, we go blindly on our way, creating more unintended consequences, and failing to achieve anything useful” -Margaret J. Wheatley

I want to encourage you today that it doesn’t matter if it was your fault that you didn’t achieve as much as you wanted to last year. This is a new year! You have the opportunity to change things and make them happen for you. Take charge of your life and don’t wait for things to be handed to you.  I am definitely grateful that I am alive today which means I have the opportunity to do better. Don’t dwell on your failures and inadequacies. Learn from them and keep it moving.

Please let me know if you like the idea of weekly inspirational/motivational posts. Maybe I can have #inspirationwednesdays or #motivationwednesday or #chatwednesdays. Which of the titles do you prefer ? Any suggestions are welcome:) I want it to be a joint decision , so let me know your thoughts.

Have a fab week;)

  1. Wow and wow again..i am actually moved by this and yeah i think Weekly inspirational messages and paragraphs would be nice and i really felt i could identify with what was said especially not being hard on ourselves for what we didnt accomplish last year.

    Great post aish

    1. Thank you sweetie! I am glad you could relate and hopefully it helped. Don’t be too hard on yourself! I know you got this! Think about all the amazing things you accomplished last year and I am sure they far outweigh any of the things you didn’t achieve. Stay positive x

  2. Great post Aisha..just a little contribution on moving forward…we tend to make a lot of these goals based on the belief system of will power..but the thing we fail to realise is will power comes with an active consciousness and cultivated receptivity on every level (be it physical or spiritual). Lets cultivate the habit of doing. One of my acronyms for the year is M.A.L.T (More Action Less Talk). Wish everyone a great 2017 and great work Aisha for this platform.
